My apologies if this duplicates an earlier report but I couldn't find mention of it.

In Kate, a search/replace ignores the state of the [ ] Selected checkbox. If I check [ ] Selected, it still replaces every occurrence in the entire file.

This is a misunderstanding I think. The setting means that Kate will pick up
selected text for search term.

Correct me if I'm wrong

This is a misunderstanding I think. The setting means that Kate will pick
up selected text for search term.
Correct me if I'm wrong

I hope you're wrong (grin), because then there would be no way to
search/replace within selected text only. Kate previously supported this
functionality.
